What Audiences Are Saying
"A beautiful play, beautifully executed. It haunts you afterward."
"This was my first time ever attending a performance like this, and what an incredible first experience it was. The show shed light on the challenges and experiences that so many immigrants face, delivering a message that was both powerful and meaningful. The actors did a wonderful job drawing the audience in, making it feel as though you were witnessing real life experiences unfold before you. Truly unforgettable."
"So refreshing to see a scrappy, low-budget show with all the torque and quality of a much larger production. Every bit of space was utilized. The actors were phenomenal. Sound and lights worked in conjunction to take us to a place we've all known. The impossible web of storytelling was weaved masterfully."
"Great show. Impressive talent all around."
"Beautifully done. So very important and relevant."
"Such a powerful show. I can't wait to see what Little Branch does next."
"All three actors were intensely sincere, and that's what sticks with me most — they clearly all want the best for each other, but are compromised by the inherent contradictions of the system they live in. The set was magical."
About Sanctuary City
In post-9/11 Newark, NJ, two teenagers who were brought to America as children become one another's sanctuaries from harsh circumstances. When G becomes naturalized, she and B hatch a plan so that he may legally remain in the country and pursue the future he imagines for his life. But as time hurtles on and complications mount, the young friends find that this plan challenges and fractures the closest relationship either has ever had.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Martyna Majok, Sanctuary City is a powerful exploration of friendship, love, and what it means to find home in an uncertain world.
